Happy Holidays from e-Accounting
december 2005
Dear Joanie,

As Christmas nears, we realize that soon after tax season will be here. Give yourself the opportunity to have a little less stress this upcoming year. e-Accounting has many useful tools and solutions to help you and your clients reduce the tax season burden.

A Valuable Tool for Tax Season

Here it comes! Another tax season is upon us, and you're facing potential system upgrades, certain software updates, and a full range of IT headaches and preparations to get your practice ready for the crunch. Wouldn't you like things to get just a little bit easier?

e-Accounting already offers hosting and application management services for QuickBooks Pro, Premier and Enterprise - the most popular small business accounting packages available. For those of you who do tax preparation work for clients using QuickBooks (and any other e- Accounting application), having your tax application in the same Internet-based environment as the accounting data can make the preparation process a snap!

Last year we sent to subscribing e-Accountants, and we asked which tax preparation applications you would most like to see in this environment. And the clear winner was Intuit's ProSeries.

e-Accounting has been hosting dedicated ProSeries implementations for several years, so we have experience with this application in a server-based environment. You can access the QuickBooks accounting application online, import the data directly into ProSeries, and handle your tax preparation and electronic filing from anywhere at any time! "Grow" your staff without increasing office costs and requirements; allow users to work from home or other business locations; and earn more by being more efficient during this very busy time of year.

Low Cost File Sharing Over the Internet

There are often times when you and another party need to share a file. You know the drill: put it on a floppy and mail it, or email it, or ftp it, or drive there and get it. This is time consuming, not convenient, and prone to error or failure. There is a better way, and it's called eFileShare.

With eFileShare, any company can create a "hard drive in the sky" where files can be stored and made available from anywhere at any time. Just like with a network file system, you can add and remove users and groups, and assign permissions and rights to folders. It doesn't matter how many users you need to have access; you can add and remove whenever you like. Your only limit is the space you subscribe to, and that can even be upgraded upon request!

e-Accounting Support Tip #9

To move a Quickbooks backup file from the remote server to your local hard drive, back it up to the server drive first (the K: drive for example) and then copy and paste it to your local drive. Never try to backup up Quickbooks directly to your hard drive.

The Quiet Before the Storm

Before tax season starts, ask yourself what you can do to make it easier for you and your clients. One solution is to outsource your technology management. Let someone else worry about your data backup, application management, technical support, data recovery and every other IT stress involved with tax season.

e-Accounting offers solutions that help professional accountants, tax and finance professionals, business managers, and team members work closer. Our solutions create process efficiencies that can have a dramatic positive impact on the profitability of the business.
